HUGE RARE 1872-1922 AUSTRIA-HUNGARY SOLID .800 VIENNA SILVER FLATWARE SET
This antique Vienna Silver Flatware Set from Austria-Hungary (1872-1922) is a rare find for collectors of non-U. S. silver. The hallmark, mandated for Austria on March 10, 1872, features a five-lobed punch with the lead of Diana in profile, a crescent moon touching her forehead, the city mark under her nose, and the fineness mark at the nape of her neck. The set, encased in a box, shows wear and tear, and many pieces have tarnish, but all are marked with the purity and maker's mark. The stainless steel knife blades show some pitting and dirt, as seen in the pictures provided.
