This antique Oceania map collection, titled "Explorers' Pacific Cartography Collection," showcases the routes and discoveries of renowned explorers in the waters north of Australia. Created by Rigobert Bonne and engraved by Gaspard André in Paris, 1780, the collection features six charts on one sheet. The main chart highlights the explorations of Captain Carteret in New Britain, a segment of Captain Cook's passage through the Endeavour Strait, and the discoveries of Dampier in the region. Additionally, the collection includes five smaller maps depicting various locations such as the Bay of Bonthain in south Sulawesi and New Ireland in Papua New Guinea.
This map was drawn by Rigobert Bonne, Ingénieur Hydrographie de la Marine and engraved by Gaspard André. It was published in Paris, 1780. It is blank on the back with no printing on the reverse side.
