Top6%
This 19th Century Ophthalmic Sciascope is a rare antique optical instrument from the early 1900s, designed for determining diopters for eyeglasses. Featuring plus and minus indicators on the handle, this piece offers a glimpse into historical optometry practices. Despite its age, the sciascope remains in good condition, with the exception of a missing -1 diopter lens. Measuring 22 inches in length and 2 inches in width, this collectible item showcases craftsmanship from the turn of the century.
RARE 1900s Antique Optometrist's (plus amp; minus diopter) Sciascope Optical Instrument. You can see in the handle the plus and minus to determine the diopters, which is very cool. My father has been in the ophthalmic industry for 25+ years has seen almost nothing like these. They are probably from right around the turn of the century. They are in good condition for it's age, although the -1 diopter lens is missing. They slide pretty well, in order to determine the diopter needed for glasses, but are being sold as an collectible. They measure about 22 inches long, and 2 inches wide.
